With social media climbing its way to the top of the marketing and advertising ladder, there may come a time when people wonder if it is going to completely overpower. While it may seem that companies lacking a Facebook or Twitter account could potentially lose some business, that definitely doesn't mean they are going to lose all of it.
Social Media is undoubtedly a great way to get your business out in the world but it is impossible to say that you are going to fail if you don't use Facebook or Twitter. There are hundreds of other ways to advertise today and many people still choose these over a social media websites. Don't forget about the applications for HR, PR, and many other parts of the company that are a significant input in the way you do business.
When it comes to competition, have you seen one company beat out their leading competitor because of social media? It is a main player of the game, but it isn't the only player. Your competitors more than likely take advantage of numerous advertising and marketing outlets. Why would you not do the same?
Social Media has flourished greatly and CAN be big time business. It could branch your advertising a lot farther than you may have imagined and bring in a decent profit for the company. However, it is not the only profitable thing you can do for your business. There are millions of people who do not use social media at all. Without a doubt, a company should look into every aspect of advertising as possible. If you want to reach everyone, you have to be everywhere and you can do this for a very low, close to nothing cost.
